Outbound Caller ID Plugin ?
Hi, can anyone tell me if there is a program or plugin for magicjack that will allow me to change my outbound caller ID to show both my name and number to people I call?

Nope... Of course had you done a search first you would have already known that
As of right now, in and of itself, you are not able to spoof your caller ID on the MJ.
Of course if you have a Google Voice number and have it complete your call and have it ring your MJ then your GV number will show..

Ok what am I missing here? How does MJ help in placing a call?bitstopjoe wrote:Nope... Of course had you done a search first you would have already known that

I understand that GV can forward a call from your GV number to any phone including MJ.

Re: Outbound Caller ID Plugin ?
MJ does not allow the CID to be inserted, so your stuck with displaying your MJ number to callers. If you want to increase the chances that your name will appear on the callers end along with your MJ number, you can list your MJ number with Self Listing Service; since MJ does not do that for you.danette77 wrote:Hi, can anyone tell me if there is a program or plugin for magicjack that will allow me to change my outbound caller ID to show both my name and number to people I call?

If you log into your GV account ( web page) and place a call via your GV web page AND have MJ as the phone which will ring when GV calls you back, then the party to whom you are calling should see your GV number and not your MJ number.VaHam wrote:Ok what am I missing here? Ok just standard GV operation. Nothing to do with MJ then since GV can forward to any number. The user would have to place the call via GV web page.bitstopjoe wrote:If you log into your GV account ( web page) and place a call via your GV web page AND have MJ as the phone which will ring when GV calls you back, then the party to whom you are calling should see your GV number and not your MJ number.VaHam wrote:Ok what am I missing here? Actually, the MJ user can dial his GV number, then press 2 to initiate the call through GV to the destination number. (This works if the MJ number has been designated as one of his personal numbers in GV.)
If the user has his GV settings set correctly, the destination will see the GV number, not the MJ number (it is an option).

Enjoys a daily VOIP cocktail made from:
-One shot Magic Jack
-One shot TK6000
-One shot NetTalk Duo
-Two shots Ooma (it's bigger)
Shaken, not stirred.
Google Voice is the chaser.

Good idea and works for any line not just a MJ.Nobody beats the Whiz! wrote:Actually, the MJ user can dial his GV number, then press 2 to initiate the call through GV to the destination number. (This works if the MJ number has been designated as one of his personal numbers in GV.)

Of coarse if your gonna be making use of Google Voice for placing calls and having to add to the call process; it would be easier to just buy an Obi and skip the MJ part.
The dialing would not require anything special and service would be cheaper than MJ as well; since GV is free.

Of "coarse" since the OP mentioned they already had MJ, surely you're not suggesting that switching is a cost effective approach since the device has already been bought? Of "course" I suppose they could recover the extra cost in 2-3 years depending on what they pay for the Obi.VaHam wrote:

I used to live not far from where the show was supposed to take place. In fact the bus stop and other shots were right down the block from me.
A show like that would last 2 episodes these days. And yes it was stupid funny not ha ha funny. BUT hey anything which makes one laugh is a good thing.

Almost like the Three Stooges, although not quite as funny. You know you shouldn't laugh but can't help it.bitstopjoe wrote:I used to live not far from where the show was supposed to take place. In fact the bus stop and other shots were right down the block from me.
