outbound to 2 exchanges not working

Post by astro46 »

i am calling from 773, and finding, since last night, that calls to 847-494, and 847-363 don't go through. i hear the ringing recording, but calls aren't reaching the other phone (never get to voice mail, and verified by talking to one of them while trying to call through mj,). both are cell phones. after a minute of ringing>quick busy>disconnect. i can call them from my cell phone. calls to other 847 exchanges work. of course i haven't tried every exchange in 847.

another mj failure.

Does the softphone show 'ready to call'? What happens when you call 866-692-6447? 712-580-9999? (both should read your caller ID) local landlines, dialing 10 digits?

yep, mj says "ready to call". calls to both of the numbers went through ok, and they gave me my mj phone number. calls to some other numbers work, but not to the ones i mentioned. odd.

Could someone with this problem please post what proxy they are using and a specific test number that fails? I tried an 847-492 number from my MJ and had no trouble.

i tried to paste a screen shot of wireshark, but this board doesn't seem to allow it.

maybe this is the info you wanted:

on 2nd invite line: source is 99.151.84.112, destination is 67.90.138.70, response code?? i don't see anything like that.

and, how do i know what proxy i am using?

sorry, this isn't all the info you asked for, but i don't know how to get all the info.

Unable to call local area codes

Post by alan »

Same problem since Fri. 11-Apr. Cannot call my local 847 area code or its 224 overlay. I have no problems with any others so far. Have tried all the other northern Illinois codes, 708,630,773and 815, all are working fine. It seems it just effects the area code I'm in. Lots of hours with tech support jumping through hoops. Finally convinced him to excalate to the engineers. Was told I would be contacted with 24-48 hours. We'll see what happens.

i, and others on this board, can pretty much guarantee what will happen, as far as hearing from tech support: nothing.

67.90.138.70 is Atlanta proxy. You can see this by typing

Code: Select all

ping -a 67.90.138.70
at a command prompt.

I registered with Atlanta, made three test calls to 773-267-4822 (answers "Thank you for calling Borders ...") and all went through ok. Please try that number, dialing all ten digits. If it works, post a number that fails. If you have trouble, please post your area code and exchange; I'll try to simulate your situation more accurately.

stewart, thanks for spending time on this. +17732674822 doesn't work for me. same issue, "rings" for 55 sec and then quick busy and disconnect.

my area code and exchange are 773-764

I'm very puzzled. According to telcodata.us, 773-764 belongs to AT&T, and the only 773 numbers that MJ has are 773-455-3xxx and 4xxx.

Did MJ really assign you a 773-764 number (in which case the telcodata site must be out of date)? Or, did they port your existing 773-764 number to MJ? Or, are you just spoofing your 773-764 number (in which case please tell me the area code and exchange of your MJ number)?

duhh. stewart, really sorry to have led you down that path. i automatically responded with landline info. mj is 773- 462

btw. i emailed dan borislow about the problem this morning, and the reply indicates that they knew nothing about the issue, in spite of all the calls to tech chat, and they insist that it will be fixed within 24hrs., and that something needs to be done about the info that thy get from tech chat. good luck to them with that.

My problem was fixed yesterday afternoon. After all the BS jumping through hoops with 1st and 2nd level support, it is just what I told themm their problem in the system. Anyhow it is now OK.

several months ago, they acknowledged the need to improve info received from tech chat. claimed to be working on that. guess it hasn't gone so well.
