MJ device not paired with number

Post by ddnebert »

I have been using MJ with a MacBook Pro just fine until recently when it would cause all my USB devices to go invisible after a few minutes of not using the computer. This required a reboot each time and I'd get a few more minutes of usage. I applied the Mac update to hopefully fix the issue, but got the same.

Since I figured it might behave differently on XP, I tried to use it on my Netbook on the same network. I can install the dialer and see the autorun files on the MJ USB device. It gets to the dialer and then presents a splash page "To call without a magicJack try magicTalk" The Menu settings say I am unregistered, but I can never get a registration splash screen to stay. I have also run the setup and update programs on the PC, disabled firewall and virus detection, etc. Now the device is basically unrecognized - other than it being a USB device with a few programs files on it - both on the Mac and XP systems. It shows a blue light, and even provides a dial-tone, but calls never connect and the dialer is not invoked by picking up the handset as before.

Online chat help has provided no assistance that leads to a working device again. Before I beg for a refund, is there any way to really reset or reflash the device? I can't see where to 'format' it as a drive or know what to put on it as a replacement image.
