outgoing calls no ringing but connecting
My magicjack looks like it is working however it I do not hear it ringing. It shows session time and then operational time and then it appears that the other party picks up and then hangs up because they hear nothing from my end. What to do. *I have a windows xp
The below assumes that you are using a phone plugged in to MJ (not a computer headset), you do hear dial tone, and the dial tone stops when you dial the first digit of your number.
If you have a router, test with a connection directly to your DSL modem (you may need to set up PPPoE on the PC). If your DSL modem is a set up as a router, try putting it in bridge mode (you'll need to set up PPPoE on the router, or on the PC if you have none). If you are running a software firewall other than Windows Firewall, test with that disabled. For security, don't disable your firewall and run without a router at the same time. For any of these tests, verify that you have a working Internet connection before testing MJ.
If you post again, please tell make and model of DSL modem and router if any, including router hardware and firmware versions.
