VMail button dials my own number! Why? Fix?

Post by sleepydragon »

Hello everyone,
When I click the VMAIL button on the magic jack screen, it dials my magic jack number and the greeting voice says my line is busy please leave a
message. Anyone knows how to fix this? What is the number I need to dial
to get to my voice mail in box?
Thank you in advance

That is what it is supposed to do. You check your voicemail by dialing your own number, you should be able to do this from any phone, whether it is your own phone or someone else's. You should be able to hit the # key and then your PIN to access your voicemail. The default PIN is 1234 I think and after you have access to your voicemailbox you can change it.

I got it. Now I just figured out that the '*' button on my handset did not work.
That's why I could get to voicemail as instructed. It worked perfectly when I
used the keys on the the base of my phone.
Thank you all for your quick responses.

F.Y.I. If you use the MagicTalk software and have a Basic account (free with the long number in-between asterisks) you will ONLY get your voicemail messages via email. Your vmail button won't work and the 1234 password won't work if calling from another phone either. If you have the Basic account remember to save those emails because there's no way to get them again. They don't save Basic users voicemails on their servers. It's a one shot deal. I spent quite a bit of time with the live chat people to find this out.
