Anyone having problems accessing the website from Win7 ?

Post by CPUjohn »

A few days ago, I thought MagicJack.com was down, only to discover that it works from my XP Laptop within my network, just won't load from my Windows 7 machine, and when I use a tool that can send a get request from the site raw, it is coming back that I don't have permission to access the site !

If the IP was blocked, I couldn't access with laptop, anyone have a clue as to what this could be ?

I loaded a program called HotSpot Shield and it let's me access by using another site to proxy my IP on the Windows 7 machine, but when I uninstall it, no access again. It is really difficult to troubleshoot MJ+ without ability to download files they send me as links (I've had to retype the addresses). Also cannot get MJ+ to run in USB Mode from same computer (which is my main computer: Win7 x64 Ultimate on i7-2600K/ASUS MB, 8GB memory, SSD Drive), all very high end equipment.

Latest fix they sent me minimizes beeping, still getting occasionally.
Had to repair using laptop as can't get to complete in Win 7.

:?

Getting on the website is not a Win 7 issue. I get on it fine on my low-end Acer, with 7 Home Premium.

I am having the same problem you are. Tech can't help me at all from MJ. I never had a problem with MJ on my old HP and I got a new HP some one and I am having problems just like you now.
Some times I hook up with MJ and I can make calls and other times it off. But when I get on MJ I have not contacts it says and my 911 address is not there at all.
I heard some guys say its your network adapter drive. They say to roll back your network drive but I can't. I have the most updated one. I feel its to updated maybe try to download a older drive. Not sure if i can do it.

have you found out anything to help you yet ?

Still can't get MJ website on my Win 7 desktop...

Post by CPUjohn »

Sorry Jim5099, I still don't know what/why I cannot access. I have tried dozens of things including disabling all AV and Spyware, checking proxy and anything running in background, sweeping machine looking for anything rogue, installing different browsers (all doing same thing).

I can access everything but MagicJack site, and I cannot figure out why.

So far, no idea what is going on.

Thought beeping was completely eliminated but it is still intermittent on callers side, and can't fix this either !

here is the fix.

Here is the fix.

If your having a problem with error 401 and can't download your contacts from magicjack and you can't load there web pages or chat. Then you have to update or down grade your Network adapter. It is the thing that connects your pc internet to your modem or cable service.
I had a New Hp pavilion and I had no luck with magicjack service people at all. After reading some of this forms I found what I was looking for ..the fix.

Go to your pc in the control panel= Device manage=networkadapters=
I had Realtek PCIE GBE Family Controller Driver 7.44 I needed 7.48 driver so I email www.realtek.com and told them I was running windows 7 64bit they sent me a link to the new driver to install myself. I downloaded it and BANG magicjack worked after the did that.

When you doulder click on the network adapter you will see the drivers name. Click on it and click on the tab were it says driver. It shows you the date the driver it and number your running. You can roller the date back but if its a new pc there is NO roll back date. You have to download a newer one and older driver from there web site. Just do a sreach online to find your drivers company.
I hope this helps alot of poeple out there with this problem because magicjack techs have there heads up there you know whats...LOL. I am not a tech person I am a printer and if I can fix my PC you can do. I wish the Magicjack people should take better classes to help use more. I like to know if the tech dept of MJ is in the US or in India ?

Got my contacts back!

Post by sirlaughalot »

I had lost my contacts for about two weeks. It seemed to happen after I did a Windows update (Win Premium 7 64bit). I also could not get to magicjack.com

What I forgot was that I had also disconnected my linksys router. I just re-hooked up my router and my contacts came back!!

Back to normal? I hope so.

Possible fix for magicjack.com website access issue

Post by tritanium1 »

Hi CPUjohn,

I was able to fix my access issue by disabling jumbo frames in my network adapter settings. While testing this particular setting on my network, I discovered I could not access magicjack.com. Once disabled, access was restored.

Just one possibility...

trying your suggestions. jumbo frames already listed as disabled.

I have version 7.45... of the network adapter. I suppose I'll email realtek, though when I click update, it says it's up to date. Also, the device had worked with this driver, as it's a new computer and the only driver it had, so I really don't see how it could be the driver.

well, it apparently was the driver. I emailed realtek and they emailed a link to their website where I could download an updated driver (from 7.45... to 7.48...) and it is now working. Don't know why when in driver properties it said it was up to date when I clicked update driver if there actually was an update, but oh well, working now.
