as long your MJ is activated yes
if you have activated MJ here in the USA with a area codes from the states, Then yes, you could used it over see, Just as long you used the same technic used here and that is a Fast Broadband Connection , A PC/Laptop with a USB port , and of course, any phone that that plugs into the Jack on the USB Device.
hope this helps .
EDIt: forgot to mention point and simple, as long you have a internet connection, you be able to used it anyway you have it configure here as over sea .

Some countries block VOIP to protect their government-owned telecom services. China ISPs have been known to block VOIP ports:

Looking at the link from the post above, it seems a few places around the world like to block VOIP. If you scroll down and read the comments on the same page (very bottom comments) they talk about ways around it. I'll be heading overseas to some of the places that are blocking VOIP so that link might come in handy for me, thanks.

Once your MJ is set up with a US phone number, you only need an MJ with you to call back home and get calls from home if you are going overseas. A second MJ at home isn't needed if the MJ you take with you has a local phone number. Calls both ways will be free.
My daughter-in-law just got back from Italy and used it from there. She had a wireless Internet connection at the hotel and she just plugged the MJ into her laptop USB port and a small phone into the MJ, no other device needed. From her experience, you need to make sure you have a good connection. Just moving around the hotel room made a difference.

I haven't done this yet but I have a relative who just went to Europe for an extended stay. I want to send her an MJ for her birthday, coming up soon. All she has to do is set it up, choose a local US prefix and area code, plug it into her laptop (she already has the high speed connection) and she can call, not only me with or without my MJ but any phone number in the US for free. I can call her for free from my MJ or from my land phone (which has free Internet) because she has an MJ. She can send and receive calls to and from the US , without charge. This is how I am understanding this works.infamouskid wrote:ok now im lost. which is it?

Magicjack from Holland????????
Anyone had experience using MJ from Holland ?????
My wife is over there with her laptop, XP, wireless connex.
When she plugs in MJ she gets screen that says.....
'something like.....'only outgoing calls from US' and she can not call.
We would like to sort it out and get it to work from Holland to US number
Don't care about receiving incoming calls.

MJ calling to ANY USA/Canada number (including MJ USA number) is free.khuebich wrote:Can I use MJ to make a phone call from US to Vietnam without any addition fee?
MJ calling to an international number will cost money. You will have to prepay international LD. After you set up your MJ account, log in and buy some international LD usage. Current rate for MJ calling to VN number is $0.30/minute.
You can send MJ device to your relatives in VN to use, set up and get a USA phone number. Then you could call that MJ USA number for free. They could call you for free as well. Your relative will have to have PC & good internet connection.
