Call forwarding not working

Post by jaybar »

First of all, I have been on line with tech support 5 times for a total of about 5 hours, and nothing they suggested worked. I said it is their problem and asked them to check my account and send me an e-mail telling me all is well.

Here is the situation. I have two mj phone numbers. When I login to my.magicjack.com I have the choice of what number I want to work on. I chose my new number go to the call forwarding area and click enable, and put in the number to forward to.
The calls do not forward. I have enabled and un-enabled at least 10 times. I have switch usb ports and nothing makes it work. Now my first number works fine in all the features including call forwarding.

I don't think there is anything at my end wrong. Once I enable call forwarding the work is done on their server.
Every other feature works fine.

I think it is their problem to fix. What say the group?

Jaybar,

Just out of curiosity, do your MJs have the same Area Code assigned to them. I selected a 703 Area Code for my MJ because the 228 Area Code (the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast) is not on the MJ ACTIVE list. For the first 3.5 weeks (I bought my MJ around March 4th), Call Forwarding never worked on my MJ. When Call Forwarding was enabled, all calls to my MJ number went directly to the MJ Voice Mail. Sometime around 1 April 2008, I saw that the MJ programmers were performing upgrades on their MJ Servers. Feedback I received indicated that this was not an all-at-once upgrade, but an Area Code-by-Area Code upgrade. After weeks of Call Forwarding not working, all of a sudden I had full functionality. It has been working fantastically since the so-called upgrade, whatever that entailed.

I don't know if the upgrading process is totally complete at this point, so you might want to ask MJ Tech Chat where the upgrade process stands at this point. It just seemed real strange that one day it suddenly worked with no action needed on my part on my system, so it had to be some aspect of the upgrade process. You can see the various threads I posted in this forum regarding "Call Forwarding Not Working." I was one frustrated MJ user because everything else worked great. Now me, my MJ and my Grand Central number (sure wish Google would start releasing more GC invites) are all one happy communications family.

Hope it stays that way!

Call forwarding - Possible fix

Post by Uncle »

Like Jaybar, I also have two MJs. The newer one would not forward calls. I had selected an area code and exchange that is
local for a friend so he could call me for free. But the system would not forward the call to my home phone as I wanted so I could
receive calls with my computer off.
After about four hours of chatting with clueless agents on three different days, I was ready to send the MJ back and got an RMA number. But I thought, I have nothing to lose by trying to change my number. So I picked the same area code but another exchange that is still local to my friend.
Lo and behold, the call forwarding now works. I think my old number was jinxed. So it worked for me. Try it if you've run out of options.

Yeah, well, my call forwarding doesnt work with my one and only magic jack number when calls are made from cell phones.

For example, whenever someone calls my Magic Jack number from THEIR cell, it refuses to forward to my forwarding number which happens to be my cell phone. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even RING. It just hangs - doesn't even go to voice mail.

When someone calls my magic number from a land line, it forwards beautifully.

Any ideas?

I've been with tech support for hours as well, I changed my number but no luck. I got an RMA too  but I really just want an inexpensive call forwarding solution...I have a mac, but I did set up on a PC.

Add me to the club too. Call forwarding isn't working here either. I was on the chat with them for three hours yesterday, talked to three reps, and nobody had a clue on how to help me to get this feature to work. I tried everything they told me to do. I finally got a "advanced" tech guy and he said the problem was on their end and it would be resolved in 2-3 business days. I was told I'd receive an email when it was fixed. We'll see. I'm not holding my breath.

Has anyone got an 817 area code that is working, mine isn't and never has. I'm getting the same run around everyone else. I need it to work asap. If I changed my number which area code is working?
