JUST WONDERING ABOUT WIRELESS

Post by rubyjewel77 »

HI forum, I am just wondering if the reason I get not-so-good reception on my MJ is b/c I had to get a non-Iowan # (I live in Iowa and chose a Missouri #) and the fact my laptop is running off of wireless internet from my desktop. M/b somebody else has asked this ?, before, idk but I am asking it now. On my end it is crystal clear sometimes but on their end they can hardly hear me. :?

Area code has nothing to do with your volume. Try turning up your recording volume in the sound card mixer on your computer. You can also try adjusting the volume settings on the MJ software program. Have someone call into your MJ phone and test which settings provide the right amount of volume so people can clearly understand what you are saying. I use a laptop, and my calls are crystal clear on both ends.

rubyjewel77,

First not to negate anything Roozie has said but their is a very common problem that occurs during the MJ installation, why it happens I don't know but here is the solutions for you.

1. Go into the control panel and double click the sound icon.
2. Go to the Audio Tab and make sure that all your sound playback and record default devices are set to YOUR audio card NOT the USB Tigerjet. Click apply.
3. Go to the Voice Tab and make sure that all your sound playback and record default devices are set to YOUR audio card NOT the USB Tigerjet. Click apply.
4. Set all your OS audio controls are set to maximum and that your microphone advance settings are set to use microphone Boost. (I don't know how necessary this step is but the first two are essential.

Good Luck and Please let me know if this fixes your problem.

rubyjewel77,

It is essentially the same thing in Vista. Only when you open up the sound icon you will see two tabs, Playback and Recording. Just select the two tabs one at a time and make let say Speakers (Creative SB-X-Fi) as the default. Do the same thing with the recording TAB only in this case it will be the microphone.

The important part is that neither of these items should be pointing to MagicJack Anything or anything the the name Jet in it.

Let me know it I only confused you more. It is really simple just something not many of us play with everyday.
