Cloning new MagicJack as spare

Post by mikieii »

Just started using MJ+, I understand hardware is fairly short lived, recently ordered another MJ+ as backup, how can I have the new "spare" MJ+ programmed/Cloned to my MJ number I am now using to have a spare when needed? I realize only one unit can be used at any one time, just needing a "spare" to prevent long telco outages.

Thanks MTM

No cloning necessary, IF and when your MJ+ fails, prior to plugging in the backup one, just contact MJ online support and they will transfer your current phone number to your backup unit.
Just so you know my 3 1/2 yr old orig MJ dongle is still going strong, so some hardware seems to last, but of course everyone is different. Odd though how my old VCR crapped out after I used it as a shot-put, who knew :)

MJ+ Support

Post by mikieii »

Thank you for the prompt reply, is there another way to contact MJ+ Support other than through my account portal? Tried this once, gave up after waiting almost 40 minutes with no luck.

Thanks again.

Sadly no, via chat is the only way and since the Plus came out it seems it takes them quite awhile to get online ( so I hear anyway). BUT since you won't need them till your current plus craps out I think you are ok, for now :)
The help you will get in this forum blows away their support anyway. The only thing MJ support seems to be good for is Voice Mail Box resets and porting questions..
