Has anyone been sucessful with connecting your MJ RJ11 cable to your modem port and dialing out to another modem?
It seems like MJ is somehow detecting the handshaking protocol and then disconnets.
Thanks.

Just like most other VOIP services, MJ does not work well with fax & modem due to compressed speech bandwidth. Most dial-up modems will try to "negotiate" at 56K baud and down from there. Faxes will start "negotiate" at 14.4K baud and down from there.
MJ is not "somehow detecting the handshaking protocol and then disconnects". The disconnection is terminated by either side of the modem connection, by the modem or by the terminal emulation program due to too many errors encountered during the handshake, and not by MJ.

MJ to Modem, partial success at 300 baud.
I only use my laptop modem for connecting to DSC alarm panels. I am in the security biz and have to connect on occassions to change programming. The setting for the DSC panel to communicate correctly needs to be as slow as possible. And since Im running at 300 baud, this may be why MJ is working. I do get some drop outs but the modem did that on a normal phone line also on occassions. So try slowest baud rate possible for best chance of success.
