Re-registration

Post by Buraku »

After two years using MJ I started having problems when booting up and plugging the MJ into USB port. I would then get the MagcJack Plus ad.

So I went to Control Panel and removed the MJ program, thinking to re-register by simply plugging MJ into the USB port and clicking a shorcut to MJ. But this failed. So I restored the computer to an earlier date, found the MJ program back on the program list, and thought the problem would be solved. But no, now when I click the MJ shortcut I always get the message, "The drive or network connection that the MagicJack refers to is unavailable. Make sure the disk is properly inserted......"

I don't have a disc for MJ. How can I start all over again when I first got the MJ? Must I re-register somehow?

If you go to the MJ web page and search for remover.exe ( I think that is what it is called) it is supposed to remove all traces of MJ and allow you to start all over. Well it is supposed to anyway.

Thanks Joe, But I still can't get past the aforementioned MS warning to get to the MJ Phone screen.

In my frequent "playing around" with my MJ, which includes deleting and re-installing the program, it now does not automatically load for me when I plug it back in. I have to go into Windows Explorer, find what drive MJ is sitting on, and click on an "autorun" file to get mine to load properly. Last time I did it, there were 2 autorun files, I think one was autorunu, but regardless I clicked on the larger one.

If I were you, I would go through the delete process that Joe mentioned again, and plug the device back in. When I do that, my icon is wiped off. So if after plugging the device back in, AFTER running the remover program, you have an icon, you don't need to go into Explorer. Regardless, if the icon pops up or if you have to go into Explorer, if it still doesn't work, you may have a bad device, or something might be acting up with your USB port/settings.

Thanks Sensei. After uninstalling, "installing", and then upgrading I was able to actually install the MJ, only to find that my "yearly subscription has expired'. Perhaps this was the cause of my problems, but I doubt it.

But Sensei, I didn't get the message that my subscription was due until after I was able to re-register. MJ could have left a voicemail message on my computer while I was having the problems.

So although we disagree on the cause, I thank you for the solution.
