Post by kc5kxo »

I spoke to a magicjack rep via chat and said I must contact at&t to request a number port and then at&t said they can't port the no. to magicjack because they don't have access to their codes any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to do the porting through the set up process of the magic jack. If you already have done that, then go to my.magicjack.com and sign in. You can do it both ways. I did it during the initial setup. Magic jack will do the rest. You don't have to contact at&t at all unless you have your dsl through them and plan on keeping it. They will disconnect it when they do the port. If that is the case, just let me know. That part can get a little hairy.

Hope that didn't confuse you. I confused myself!! You can request the port during the initial setup. If you do it that way your magic jack will work for outbound calls only until the port is complete. Your magic jack number will be the same as your landline number. You can also pick a different number that will work right away and port your landline number after. That is when you would have to sign into my.magicjack.com to request a port.
