That type of bug (giving Error 500) has been around for a while ... i.e., you can't, for example have the word "_tracert" (remove the "_") in a post in this forum.

For security, these forums have a preprocessor that rejects numerous keywords and metacharacter sequences that could cause trouble if they somehow got executed (as php, perl, SQL, shell commands, etc.) I suppose that this is an extra defense, just in case there is an injection vulnerability somewhere. Although it's a nuisance, I can't blame the owners for doing it. What makes it a real PITA is that they won't publish a list of what's not allowed, because the bad guys could use it to find an attack not listed!
