MagicJack hate them or love them them is based on that same patented voice circuit that VocalTec started with in 1994.

The hardware linage is as follows VocalTec USB Internet Phone,TigerJet USB then MagicJack USB devices.

No they did not invent VoIP but they sure came up with a practical hardware device to make it all work in the real world. Millions if not Billions of successful VoIP calls have been placed over this hardware technology.
