My phone wont ring

Post by annastacia »

I've had my MJ for less than a week. At first my phone rang as it should but now it wont.
I've unplugged it many times and nothing changes.
I've updated the software and even attempted tech support to no avail as he wanted me to find Vista Only in "my computer" even though I had explained to him that I don't have a Vista only program as I'm running on XP.
His response was to just please take the step he mentioned and tell him when I've found this nonexistent Vista Only program he was speaking of.
I even went into My computer and looked and ya know what it wasn't there because I'm using XP.
From there it was useless so I left without saying goodbye.
Can someone here tell me what i should try?

I'm using a 5.8 ghz radioshack cordless which is new only had it for a month since I got the MJ- my softphone pops up on the screen and the caller id kicks in but there is no ringing from my cordless and the lights don't even come on. Any suggestions?

If your RS phone displays caller ID for incoming call and not ringing, it could be that the MJ device is not putting out enough ringing voltage required by your phone. Motorola cordless phone is one that some user reported the same issue like yours. You could try to use the MJ device with a powered USB hub (has its own 5V power supply) to see if the MJ device could get a little boost.

My MJ device puts out 65 Vrms (AC) ringing voltage which should be more than enough to ring most newer phones (except the picky Motorola ones). Trying another cheap corded phone should work, IMO.

The traditional landline service (POTS) provides ringing voltage up to 90Vrms to support many older mechanical-bell phones (higher ringing voltage requirement).

MOST newer electronic phones require ringing voltage between 45 and 65 Vrms. Some will require higher voltage, perhaps Motorola and RS cordless phones are ones that need higher ringing voltage.
