I purchased my MJ last week and just received it today. So...I go to plug it in and I get a GUI screen saying somthing to the effect of ... "Download in progress...please do not unplug...". So, I wait, and wait, and wait. Nothing. The screen eventually just goes away (1 or two minutes in), and then nothing happens. The task manager continues to run "mjsetup.exe", which eventually goes away also, (after several minutes), but still nothing.
In the Documents and settings\...\Application Data directory there is the mjusb directory (don't remember the exact folder name, but it's there.) Also a registry key of talk4free gets created. Two icons are also created in My Computer. Clicking on them produces the same "Download in progress..." screen.
I am a software developer by trade, and so rather computer saavy, but just can't figure out what's going on here, or if I just ended up with a dud. I have tried several different configuration settings. I also tried removing my router from the setup altogether, but alas.
I have also attempted numerous uninstalls (manually removing directories and reg keys), then reboot and reinstall. Also tried on multiple USB ports. Same result. Remove, Reboot, Reinstall. All nothing.
Live chat support (can you really call that support?) was absolutely useless. I'm not sure the person was even listening to my issue (they kept asking me if Im using the correct email, or saying "let me check your email address." Not understanding of coarse I never get to any registration screen to enter an email!!!). Eventually they tell me they are in the process of upgrading the servers and to try again in 3 hours.
So here I am needing to use google and this forum community for support, because this product has absolutely none.
Please advise!!! Any thoughts? Anyone else not working today?
My next try will be on a completely different machine. Also of note, I do hear a dial tone when plugging in a phone??
Also, Im running XP SP2.
New MJ Received Today...Not Working Please Advise!

Did you register your magicjack or no? Seems like magicjack is trying to connect to the MJ servers but cant reach them... maybe it is blocked from your pc.logicolone wrote:I purchased my MJ last week and just received it today.
