Line goes silent for 5 to 8 seconds, then comes back

Has anyone had a problem with their magicjack line going completely silent for a short period of time and then coming back? It doesn't matter which party is speaking (them or me). I have tried a magicjack and a magicjack+ and they both do it. Currently I have a mj+ hooked directly to my router (Netgear900). It was doing the same thing with a Linksys so I bought the new Netgear and it didn't fix the problem. I am using the October 2011 firmware because the newer firmware is much worse about cutting out and even drops calls.
