MJ+ drops incoming calls after one beep

Post by kersfam »

I purchased my MJ+ 10 days ago. I plugged it into my home computer and connected to one phone. It worked great for 7 days. I then plugged it into the house line for the other house phones and it worked good for 1 day. I then removed it from computer and tried stand alone- that is when the fun began. Whether back on the computer or stand alone, it will call out OK, but incoming calls will beep once and then line is dropped. I have spent 8 hours on phone w/tech support- no help. My computer and router firewalls are so far down my 4 year old grandson can hack it. I have a Gateway 2wire AT&T router model 3800HVS. I read the previous thread on porting of which I did last night. Worked well last night, this morning back to the same beep and dropped calls. I have removed all my old phones except for Lifeline and security system. Installed latest vtech 6.0 phone after reading thread about RDS or something like that. Can't get this thing to receive calls and stay that way. It will work sometimes- most time not. I remove and reboot it almost every hour. Currnetly connected to a laptop running all time- Would love some help! I am not that computer savy, but with good instructions, I will try anything. I also have a hammer of which I am very good at- just about ready to use it.

Thank you for your response. The physical wires to the AT&T Uverse which connected to the house line at a main switch were disconnected. I ported forward per the email in this section. I changed out my phones except as noted. First tried IPs to DMZ, that did not work, then ported forward. Hammer is still the best option at this point! Any other suggestions would be appreciated

Sounds like your router to me..Heard of many having problems with the 2 wire from ATT Any chance on trying another? Is it a combo unit ( Modem/Router)? If no try plugging the MJ+ into the modem and see what happens.
You can always try d/l'ing Mjremover from their web page and start from scratch. Maybe something got glitched. You can also try to manually update the firmware when you plug it into the USB port.
Just a few things off the top of my head ( hey it is a short trip).

Found it! With AT&T, you can not disconnect your telephone wiring at the service box as you will loose your internet. I had disconnected the wiring going from the junction box to the house line junction box. This first junction box also has two green Cat 5e cables which connected to the router. I disconnected one of the green Cat 5e wires to this junction box and everything works. One solid day of receiving calls, etc.
