Can't get my MJ to work AT ALL

Post by AMDZen »

So I bought the thing, plugged it in to a USB port via the included dongle. Plugged it into my cordless phone. Get a WARNING: Plug Magic jack in message, click on it, go to the website. Find this so called "UPGRADE" for Vista, try that and it says "LUCKY YOU" for 2 seconds and goes back to the WARNING. I tried the "FIX" and it goes through fine until the last step and says the servers aren't working or something. I've tried disabling my firewall software (Comodo) and also I forwarded 5060 and 5070 or whatever the two pors are that it gave me an error for on my router. If I disable Comodo then it gives me just the error that servers are down, if Comodo is enabled it tacks on something about letting it connect via UDP on these two ports.

I am a very technically knowledgeable person and made sure my router had the two ports it needed forwarded on the router, and Comodo doesn't seem to be the issue either. Technical support has been completely and utterly useless, all they told me was the servers are down per the message. Well I've had this for over a week and I've tried this every single day so the servers have been down for over a week?

Can anyone please help

I just wanted to mention their application seems to require admin rights to run properly. When I purchased the MJ last summer they did not mention this anywhere (and like a GOOD user I run with limited rights where possible).

Note: Vista is not spoken here, except to use its name in vain, so your mileage may vary unless you upgrade to XP.

Hello, have you also tried unplugging any and all USB devices from your system? I gave an MJ to a friend and he had the same issue, once he removed all power consuming USB devices it worked perfect. Note: this also includes any extra power hungry pci cards etc. good luck!

ps. was the hub a powered hub or just a hub extension?MJ likes a lot of power,MJ is on a power trip
help! I am running out of USB ports!!!!!!!!
Tell me, Mr. Anderson... what good is a phone call... if you're unable to speak?
