spoofing & reliable calls to Canada (they're related)

Post by Stewart »

If you live in e.g. 416 area, set the spoofer to spoof a 416 number of yours (landline, cell, etc.), then dial 7 digits to call a 416 number. My limited testing had ten connected calls out of ten. Let us know if it works in other cases.

7 digit local dialing

Post by HobNob »

Nothing to do with Canada, but very similar otherwise: Recently my local area code calls completely stopped spoofing when dialing 10 digits (non-local were still fine.) 7 digit dialing to my local area numbers caused the spoofing to succeed again. Unfortunately, today I noticed that even the 7 digit method is sporadic - sometimes working & sometimes not. I guess the 7 digit approach sometimes causes routing through a spoof-compliant carrier & sometimes it doesn't?

I'm not intending to abuse the system - I just want people to see my name rather than "Out of Area", and spoofing my POTS line number is perfect for that. Hope the spoofing isn't eliminated...
