same issue with gv jack that i had with MJ: usb power

Post by pilgrim »

My MJ just expired and i've now got the GVJack installed. How to i route power in my pc to have enough to run the MJ device? i have disabled ALL power saving features on my ASUS Mb and unplugged all but my wireless keyboard and mouse and my phone still won't ring or dial out; i have to use the on screen call pad. worse is that my call gets disconnected a lot. I have had two MJ techs working on this remotely and the problems persist. someone please work with me till i get this straight?

my pc:
ASUS M4A89GTD PRO.............with two usb3
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz oc to 3.6
PNY Optima 16GB (4x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
Ultra U12-40873 LSX 650-Watt Power Supply
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB
ASUS VH242H Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor
XION Vantage Mid-Tower Case AXP100-001BK
sony optiarc burner
side case fan with potentiometer speed control
four new usb 2 ports
500gb external hard drive (e-book)

I just remembered the additional usb ports i added; uninstalling those may help?

Based on your problem description and your computer configuration/setup/usage, you need an externally powered USB hub (the kind with its own power supply) to plug your magicJack dongle into.

Here's an example of one on Ebay that is a particular model well known to externally deliver the power a magicJack needs http://www.ebay.com/itm/magicJack-4-por ... 53edd634a2 . If this unit does not fix the problem, you have a faulty MJ dongle and based on your description it does not really sound like you do at this point in time.
