At wit's end, help

Post by deenick »

Mj loaded and is showing on drives h and g, blue light is on and i have a dial tone. When the phone pad comes up to register it shuts down my monitor. I've talked to 6 different operators on tech chat and the last one told me to talk to my i.t. person, we'll that'd be me. The majicfix says everything is right, I also loaded the upgrade, still same issue. I've tried unplugging and plugging with and without the usb extension in all 5 usb ports. I've rebooted my computer multiple times. I disabled norton anti-virus and firewall and deleted musicmatch jukebox. Any other suggestions (in laymen terms, not techie) would be greatly appreciated. One poster said that tigerjet driver was incompatible with an RJ-11 adapter so he disconnected the RJ and it fixed a similar problem. I have no idea how to do this. I have windows XP and roadrunner high speed. Thanks.

Please elaborate on "When the phone pad comes up to register it shut down my monitor."

- Do you mean, your PC/notebook shuts down abruptly then reboots? Do you have a PC with separate monitor or a notebook PC?
- Do you have XP service pack 2 installed?
- Do you check hard drive for error regularly?
- Do you have any issue with Internet Explorer on the internet?

deenick,

If you don't mind Mr. "likeMagic" I would like to bring this down to some simpler terms.

Deenick, prior to MJ finishing it startup cycle are you getting the "Blue Screen of Death"?

desktop pc. no service pac, no errors on hard drive, no problems with internet explorer. I do sometimes get a blue screen that says something about a driver issue.

one of the tech chat operators told me how to stop the monitor from trying to reboot and it worked (that's when the blue screen came up) but I've forgotten how

So you meant when MJ was loading, it crashed & restarted your PC? I would suggest you load XP service pack 2 to fix various USB driver problems first. Then try MJ again.

Ditto what likemagic said.

Also I think you will find a post here that is not more than a few days old and someone was also trying to load MJ to a naked XP installation with no success. It is difficult at times to get MJ to install correctly on a clean XP SP2 machine. Release 1 of XP IMHO doesn't stand a chance.
