This error started poping up on my laptop. Unable to resolve. MJ will not operate on my laptop anymore, but functions on a different computer fine.
I have no idea what started this problem or even guess how to fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I use a laptop PC loaded with XP Pro. Crazy thing is, you need to plug MJ into a USB port to get this error to popup!! Go figure..
Using MagicFix JAVA applet It gets stuck on last test:
Clicking the URL provided on their MagicFix page, pops up a fix for MAC computers only!
Anyone have any suggestions?

I just had a similar issue but it was different also. But maybe this is worth a shot. I had a conflict with my AV software and suddenly I got the same message. My AV software was deleting TMP files (which it was trying to call a virus) needed during the MJ boot. You haven't said anything about AV software but maybe try to unplug your jack, disable your AV and see if it boots then. Maybe not the fix but it only takes a moment to do and who knows.
Sure enough JacksonDale was correct, it does appear that the anti virus software was to blame. I did a restore point to just before I installed the AV software. Problem solved. I guess I will stick to ESET NOD32 since that has always worked for me.
