I've have MJP for just over a month now. For the last week or two we've had this issue where if we call out through MJ the person we call cannot hear us. If we hang up and they call back, then we can both be heard.
I've spent hours troubleshooting this with MJ online chat, my cell phone and home phone on MJ. I can consistently call the house phone from my cell and everything is good.
Every time I make a call from the home phone I can not hear myself on the cell phone. I put the cell in speaker mode and leave it away from me to avoid interference, and I hear nothing on the speaker. Reverse the call direction (cell to home) and everything works right!
After several hours of support chat over 3-4 days, MJ's only suggestion is port forwarding. I had ports 5060 and 5070 forwarded to the IP of the MJ which was reserved on my router, then I tried forwarding the ports to my desktop IP with MJP plugged into a USB port. It doesn't make a difference. The problem persists regardless of if MJ is plugged into USB or directly into the router.
I have the firewall turned off on the PC, updated the MJ software, and tried verifying the ports are open. I've run internal and external port scans to verify ports I've opened for apps on my desktop so I know those ports are open. (I can see them open internally, and then externally via www.canuseeme.org.) Unfortunately when I port scanned both the MJP connected to the router, and my PC with the MP connected neither port 5060 nor 5070 showed open. In fact, ZERO ports showed open when I scanned the MJP from port 1 through 65535. How can I setup port forwarding on my router if neither the PC nor the MJP actually open up any ports for it to work??
I tried the port scans both with and without an active call. I'm starting to think my MJP is defective, but I can't get an agent smart enough to understand what I'm trying to say. Or one that can do anything besides read from a script. I've contacted my ISP and verified port forwarding works.
Any suggestions? I'm ready to cancel and go with something else.
