I am living outside of the US and magicjack will not let me renew my magic jack plus subscription.

I havea google voice number but it is linked to my magicjack account. My MJ subscription expires in a week, will my google voice not work after that?

What are my options? Ooma? Obi? Purchase a new magic jack plus with a different emal and credit card?

Usually when a MJ expires you can still receive incoming calls for a while but you cannot place any outgoing calls from your phone. Eventually incoming calls will also be cut off.

One simple option you do have is to try the downloadable GVJackApp for magicJack. That will let you use your existing MJ dongle directly with the Google Voice network. It does not matter if your magicJack subscription has expired.

You can download and try out the full version of the GVJackApp with your MJ dongle free for 7 days to make sure it works out for you (from wherever you are) before making a purchase decision. With the GVJackApp installed you can also use your regular phone for talking on Skype calls. I can confirm that there are a lot of users definitely using it from outside the United States.

Ask a friend in US to use their CreditCard to pay your MJ sub., that should work.
