Cant make outgoing calls

Hi All,

Hoping someone might be able to help here.

I have a magicjack plus and I am unable to make outgoing calls from a telephone. I've tried multiple phones and have tried having the MJ plugged into my computer and directly into the router.

I've checked the ports are open in my firewall and all that is fine (MJ is in my DMZ).

Symptoms are - i get a dial tone, but when i press the keys on the phone, the key presses are not recognized and the dial tone continues. Outgoing calls are fine from the softphone when connected to my computer and incomming calls are fine in all cases.

I had the obligatory 1 hour + chat with support, but they were not able to resolve it.

Any ideas?

This may involve the DTMF problem some people are seeing on the magicJack 2014. You may have to call magicJack chat support again. (Sorry.) Tell them the device isn't recognizing dialtones. There is apparently something they can do on their end.

I spend another couple of hours with support yesterday and they are sending me a new MJ. Just have to pay the $10 or so for postage. Fingeres crossed this one will work!

Hoping someone might be able to help here.

If your magicJack doesn't recognize DTMF (button presses) then you may need to return or exchange the device. Or, have you considered trying it with a different phone?

Seriously consider removing your phone number from your original post. No point in having people try to call you. The people on this forum don't work for magicJack.
