I got a MJ for a friend, she says it worked fine the first day then the second day she went to use it, it would start to load the soft phone but stop and their web site would load up in a browser. I talked her through some stuff over the phone, we went to the website she tried the magicFix thing, ran the upgrade program gave her the error "WARNING:Plug magicJack into USB". And same problem of the website being loaded instead would happen.
Contacted tech support, they walked me through some things, the only one which helped was when I inspected the two drives that appear when you plug your magicJack in. Only one said MagicJack, the other said removable disk and when I clicked on it, it asked to be formatted. The tech asked if I didn't mind formatting I said no I didn't mind, we formatted it then ran the upgrade program from the website and voila! the softphone loads up, it seems to be working (haven't fully tested because I need her password, but its loading up now at least so I think it will work).
Now though, to get it to work, each time it's taken out and plugged in I must do the same procedure of formatting that drive and running the upgrade or some other installation program from the application data folder.
Now I know this data is supposed to save there because I bought two, the one I have, the data saves there and is available each time I plug in my magicJack.
Is there any way to get this data to save on my friend's MJ for good, so she wouldn't need to always do this formatting then upgrading???
Thanks for any help...
MagicJack won't seem to kep configuration data
