609 Area Code Issues - Busy Signal New Jersey/New York Area

Post by Bodacious1966 »

I have had this issue for quite a few days now and am curious if anyone else can dial a 609 area code?

EVERYTHING else works fine with my MJ but I simply cannot dial out to a 609 number.

I live in the 609 area code in New Jersey, but chose the more popular 732 area code aslo in New Jersey, which is really only the next town over.

So my number is 732, but I can't dial to 609.

All I get is a fast busy signal then disconnect.

I blatantly stole this from another member here, thanks Stewart!

As a temporary fix, see if any of these dialing formats work for you.

For example, to call 817-284-1234, you would normally dial 8172841234 or 18172841234 (MJ does not officially support 7-digit dialing).
But, as a workaround, try dialing:

*678*172841234
2841234
*672*841234

It worked for me. Just replace with your phone numbers.

Actually that is what I have been doing but I was curious to know if this is a persistant problem that other people have experienced.

The dial around works well as a temporary fix but is rather annoying when all your numbers are not programmed that way.

I did try to dial today and it appears to have been fixed, however, it took about a week and seven connections to the chat help line which I felt were an exercise in futility.

Well, so much for Majic Jack fixing the problem.

It is not working again.

I wonder if the people at MJ know that the issue effects a major metropolitan area?

Can anyone else dial 609 or it just me???!

Bodacious1966, can you give me a 609 phone number that guarantees to go to an automated answering system? I will call but I don't want to talk to a real person.

I'm not sure what you mean?
Are you saying you would like to try to call a 609 number and see if it rings for you?
Try calling 609-242-2255. No one will answer that.

I think the issue is because I live in 609 area (locally) and use a 732 number.

Majic Jack customer service totally sucks. I was promised three different times someone would email me and the issue would get fixed. Their chat line is useless. I asked for an address so I could write a letter describing my problem. I was told they were not aloowed to give out that kind of information. What the heck is that all about??!!

While I use the dial-around, I should not really have to.

Still no solution to my issue, other than dialing that work around number.

What a pain in the ass.

I would say that's pretty small beans, a really small price to "pay" for being able to have phone service at @20.00 a year. I programmed in all the phone numbers that give me trouble with the fix, it's not a pain for me any more, I can't let something like this get to me, my sanity and health are much more important to be bothered by having to dial a few extra digits. :D

Other than this issue, are you happy with your MJ? If you are, then keep it, if you aren't happy with it, then send it back.

Relax a bit and enjoy life
