Greetings. I have a wyse winterm WT941G and a mj+ that has worked until recently. It appears the mj policy is to follow the way of Microsoft, i.e. drop support for OSs that just happen to be on some old reliable thin clients.
A couple of days ago my mj+ softphone started coming up with error 401 - it could not register with the mj registration server but I received my contact list and the usual adds. However, it worked with xp sp3 and above boxes and in standalone mode. SSL Certs? So I chatted. My thin client box on its isolated VLAN is no longer supported. When I asked to chat with a manager she said no. I pressed a little. She hung up.
MJ: Subscriber agreement for products and services section 1. Description of How the Services Work-You are responsible for obtaining third party products and services required to use the Services (such as a computer with an appropriate operating system and port, high speed internet access and a standard telephone to plug into the Device) and for paying any fees for such third party products and services.
Me: I see. You can change things so it is no longer comparable with customer hardware and you are not responsible for it working anymore despite the 5 or so years on the contract?
MJ: The script I gave came from our engineers
Me: Can you contact your manager?
MJ: that is the only way to fix the error 401 using windows xp service packed 2
MJ: No
MJ: There is no other way
Me: Can you contact your manager?
MJ: As mentioned. NO
Me: Why? Although I have xpe sp2 I am still a customer and you are customer service.
MJ: Please read the explanation about service packed 2
ME: I am still a customer and you are customer service.
MJ: yes you are a customer but you also need to understand that magicjack will no longer work with service packed 2
MJ: and you need to follow our policy because you agree with it
Me: Why. It worked a short time ago.
MJ: I perfectly understand your situation, however I believe we are keep on repeating the same process. May I now end this chat session? Thank you
MJ: Goodbye
MJ has disconnected.
