It used to work fine, until Toshiba tech support worked on a battery problem I was having and had me do some system restores (which didn't work). When I undid the restores, MJ was gone.
If I try to install that upgrade.exe software, but it tells me to put the MJ in, even though it's alread in a USB port. I've tried all 3 ports and when it's inserted, it doesn't show up in My Computer. But when it is in, in Device Manager, I get a new entry for a USB Composite Device (only composite device) with the yellow triangle with the exclamation point in it. Remove the MJ and that entry in Device Mgr. disappears.
This was working fine, with Roxio burning software and Verizon DSl, etc. until the Toshiba-instructed Restore. (also screwed up IE7 but MS fixed that.) This is on a Windows XP Pro machine (even though it's new). I don't like the idea of Vista and my business software isn't compatible with it yet.
I could understand that the Roxio thing might not make it function correctly, but how does that affect my USB port seeing the MJ? Makes no sense. And it was working fine before.
Is there anyway to "refresh" these USB ports or something? Could it be the registry? I spent 6 hours on the phone with 3 people at MJ support and got nowhere.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Donna

The driver file for "TigerJet USB Composite Device" on my system is: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\usbccgp.sys, dated 3-aug-2004, 31616 bytes. If you don't have the file or it's obviously corrupted, get a copy from another PC, uninstall the device, unplug MJ, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, driver should reinstall.
If you do have the file and it seems ok, try the Update Driver path. If that fails, report any details (error code, etc.) about the status reported in Device Manager.

I found the file on the only machine, a VAIO laptop, that MJ is working on. It's a cheap VAIO and the sound is terrible plus it's got a crappy wireless card so I need to use an ethernet cable if I want to hear anything clearly. The file has a different date on mine, 8/3/2004, but it is 31 kb and has the same name.
It was NOT on the Toshiba laptop that's giving me the problem where it's not seeing the MJ (later for what's wrong with the desktop where it "won't initialize" - one problem at a time.) So I copied the driver to a USB stick and I'm pasting it into the WIN system 32 driver file on the Toshiba (because today the VAIO decided not to see the Toshiba on the network - even though the Toshiba sees the VAIO, I'm not dealing with network glitches right now either.)
Aha! Success! I wish I could give you a hug!!!! It worked!!!! Thank goodness for people like you.
Now I just have to do the upgrade.exe thing and maybe I'm all set.
Thank you, thank you.
