Router port settings UDP preventing my thingy from working..

Hello. In installed MagicJack today and MagicFix sez 'OK' on everything BUT what appears to the the last item: cannot connect to MagicJack servers because router or firewall won't allow UDP to throw the door open to 'talk4free.com doman. I tried to change setting in my personal Norton Firewall and elsewhere, but the Router settings are too complex for me to understand. I access the Linksys router settings page but I don't see the right or obvious way to make these settings. I am self-taught and so pretty poorly taught, besides I am OLD. Can anyone advise me on this? Oh, I ran the upgrade several times, that did not fix the problem. I make half-assed calls so there seems to be some promise, but until I get the port 5060 and port 5070 thing set I don't think the product will work and I'm on a timeline on this free trial period. I will be very grateful for your help, brothers and sisters, and aliens.- Will

I or others will try to help you out. But first, please provide the following info (as your post was not clear):

- did you get a phone number assigned to your MJ?
- which Windows version? XP with SP2?
- what is the model # of your Linksys router?

Try the followings:
- disable your firewall (Norton) & any anti-virus programs
- check your Internet Explorer (IE) settings & set as follows:

In IE's Tools/Internet Options:

- tab Privacy: set this at Medium or Low. Also "Block pop-ups" should be unchecked temporarily
- tab Connections/LAN Settings: there should be NO check marks in this screen.

Then try to test your internet connection to see how well it could handle VOIP call, select test to Boston, SJ, etc:
http://www.TestYourVoIP.com

And note any error it may give (such as retrying on port 6000).
