How do I use MJ with multiple Windows Vista users?

Post by olddogeyes »

I have three users setup in Vista Home Premium -- one for me the admin and two for my kids without admin privileges.

I installed MJ while logged into my account and it works fine when I log in...

But I want it to also load when the kids log in ...

I followed (or tried to follow) the instructions from the MJ site:

VISTA: Please go to C:>Documents and Settings>Users>Application data>Roaming> mjusbsp> in00000. Copy the file named setup and close that folder. Now click the Start button, click All Programs, right click the Startup folder, and choose open all users Paste the setup file into that folder. Your magicJack will now start on bootup.

Was able to get to the "mjuspsp" directory by pasting "\Users\$USER$\AppData\Roaming" into Windows Explorer and changing "$USER$" to my user name... But there was no "setup" in the In00000 folder ...

What am I missing?

To summarize, I was MJ to auto-load no matter which of the users logs into the Vista machine...

Help and Thanks!

Vista Home Premium

I was wondering if you ever got it to work the way you needed it?
I have a similar setup but my MJ never did let me call out or receive calls. All test calls to the unit were routed to the voice box even thou'no phones were off the hook. We tried everything and I suppose the techs got tired of my persistent calling. Mine is on it's way back to Sender.

It works OK ... Incoming sound quality is much better than outgoing... That's probably a function of my internet connection... But yes, it works under Vista.

The only reason I bought this thing was so I could drop Long-Distance @ $25 a month on my home line. Daughter has out-of-town friends.

I'd *NEVER* use it as a primary or only phone and won't be using it for business.

You get what you pay for .. and as an "accessory" line in the house it'll pull duty if I can work around my lack of knowledge about Vista.

Gawd I hate Vista...
