I have a failed MJ and am trying to get a replacement.
The MJ did not recover from a lightning strike that caused a power outage. I have spent HOURS over the last 2 weeks on multiple "Tech Chat" sessions trying to get a replacement shipped. They seem totally clueless and don't even know the replacement policy as stated on the web site. All I get is canned troubleshooting and promises of emails that never come.
I have tried 3 computers and a laptop... still no blue light, no telephone (and no option in SoftPhone to switch to telephone) and the computers don't recognize the MJ flash drive at all.
Does anyone have a suggestion to get this replaced or should I give up and go back to Vonage?
In all fairness to MJ, if your MJ device is fried due to lightning power surge, then it's not MJ fault. MJ is under no obligation to replace a lightning damaged MJ device. Cut your loss and buy a new MJ if you still want MJ service.
How do you suppose lighting got to your MJ? Did the lightning take out your computer also?
But I have to agree with LikeMagic, I don't know of any company that will replace or repair damage from a lightning strike. As far as Vonage is concerned if you were happy with you MJ why would you want to go back to Vonage, they are not lightning proof either and a new MJ is pretty damn cheap compared to Vonage.
Have you tried MagicFIX and reapplying the Upgrade, maybe it is just some scrambled software on you MJ and not really the product of a lightning strike directly. Even power outages can cause software to become corrupted.
