Voice has repeated interruption

Post by 1984benz »

:( After dialing a telephone #, the ring and after the answer, are repeatedly interrupted. You can not understand or you can not be unstood while trying to have a voice communication. While using the MJ in Daytona, FL area verything worked OK. Now in northern GA I'm having the above described problem. Does anyone have a solution to this problem??

Test to Boston at http://www.testyourvoip.com/ . If score is poor, I would first suspect your DSL connection. Do you have a new modem? Make and model? Separate router?

If the VoIP test is good, try using a corded phone, or a computer headset with MJ.

One or two things. Either it's the Internet routing to a distant number. Solve that issue by picking a number that is closest to your house via the Internet routing. I'd suggest checking a few speedtests to find out how stable or unstable your connection is to a given area before picking a telephone number there. By picking the most direct line, you can save yourself a lot of grief. Second, I'd suggest you check your bandwidth. Back when I used a number clear across the country because it was closer to family, I discovered that a lot of my bandwith never made the trip thanks to two to three dozen hops. Also, your local bandwidth could be running low as well, especially if you have one of the lower powered lines (DSL, low end cable, etc).
Windows Vista and Laptop with XP SP2 on the road. Occasionally, a Mac if my Windows machine isn't working.
