So far from what i've seen here, there are a large amount of people that like Magic jack. But i have seen others not on these forums that say it isn't very good. Now, i have here that it is choppy. Does this depend on my internet service provider, or the amount of Mbps i get with my service?
Just let me know if you enjoy magic jack, and if you could let me know what internet service provider you have.
Thanks.
So, i'm still undecided.

Ghettoman, you can try testing to Boston at http://www.testyourvoip.com/ and see if your Internet connection is suitable. My suspicion is that if you tried that now, the result would not be very good. I did some pings to your router and there is lots of jitter and some packet loss. Pings to FPB router are very stable. I tried pinging another user in your subnet and that was much better; perhaps there is a lot of traffic on your connection, e.g. file sharing, neighbors freeloading off your wireless router, virus, etc. Of course, if you are doing a big upload or download now, the jitter would be expected.

Another note: No matter what product you sell, there are going to be people who are happy and those who will complain even if you hang them using a new rope. I'd say give the 30 day trial a spin and see how you like it. If you don't, you can always send it back.

Again, that depends on how much you have as far as bandwidth. I have seven megs down and 768 up plus I use a Seattle connection point that is close to where our Internet terminates. As a result, my service quality is not affected like it was when I had a Dallas phone number that was more reliant on Internet traffic for its clarity. You can try to limit your file sharing consumption or simply turn it off. Either way, you need around 90K up and down (but I would wager that more certainly wouldn't hurt).

IMO, anyone who has reservations about getting the MJ, probably shouldn't. One of my rules is that if you don't want to be disappointed, lower your expectations. I've had a huge amount of fun with my two MJ's, not to mention the $$$ I've saved. It has become something of a hobby for me. I love it and talk it up to everyone I know.
==>> However, there are some calls I just don't make with it. One is to a person whose cell phone provider is Cingular. Even under the best of circumstances, any connection with her phone is terrible. When I call using the MJ, the echo on her end (I don't hear it), makes it impossible for her to converse.
Most of my friends have learned to adjust to the low volume, especially since I tend to talk loud anyway and they pretty much quit bagging on me about the remaining residual echo after installing the TJ echo cancelling utility.
==>> But I reiterate that if you have reservations, don't get it. Life is too short to spend agonizing over phone service when there are so many choices.

OK...I read all the ya's and nay's about MJ and was ready to go to battle with MJ if I was not pleased.
Actually the only thing I can complain about is.... There's nothing to complain about...(knock on wood)so far...snarl,snarl$#@
I did not join this forum to rave about a product, only to fine tune and find answers for my MJ, through others experience, but am here to say that big things do still come in small packages!!
MJ may not work for everyone,or on every computer, but for the price and free offer how can you go wrong!!
Nothing ventured is nothing gained!!! You be the judge!
