Linksys WRT54GP2-NA Wireless G Broadband Router w/ 2 RJ11
I plan to use this router along with my current cable modem to connect MJ without having my computer on. Does anyone have any experience with this setup?
Decided to bag this adventure, not looking for a new hobby.Stewart wrote:Though I've not used one myself, the Voice section of this device is very similar to a PAP2, so you should have no trouble; MJ works well with most ATAs, IP phones, etc. Of course, there is no guarantee; a server-side change might render the WRT54GP2 incompatible.
it's not acutally all that complicated (once you get your router "unlocked" if it's locked).
The hard part is getting your MJ SIP password.
I spent about a day on this originally, to find out that it was impossible to get from the MJ provisioning file, as well as sniffing the SIP traffic. But there are other ways to find it.
Once I had the MJ password, it took me about 20 minutes to get my ATA up and running. I did have a bit of trouble, as I was working with an ex-Vonage ATA, and there were some left-over configurations that I had to reset.
If you have a fresh ATA (non VOIP provider specific) this should be fairly easy. I got my RT31P2 running (very similar to your WRT54GP2).
If you're up for it, you can PM me and I can help you out.
