Trick Magic Jack Back to it's Factory Settings?

Post by lightshadow »

I'd be interested in restoring my magic jack to it's out-of-the-box state.
Anyone know of any way this can be done?
Should I zap it with an electromagnet?

http://www.magicjacktv.com/1/site/downl ... _setup.exe

Note: this will only reset the MJ device -- it won't delete any files or registry entries on your PC that your installation attempt may have made.

And it certainly won't erase any database entries on the servers that your registration attempts may have made.

Hmm. The "Restore" button isn't lit up for me.

You see, my magic Jack isn't broken. I merely want to be able to change my number for free.

You get one change for free. If you haven't changed your number but the free change is not available, ask tech chat for help. If you did change once, but need to change again, e.g. because they assigned you a number formerly owned by a business and you're getting lots of wrong number calls, ask nicely and MJ will probably grant your request. If you want to change again for your personal reason, you should expect to pay.

Well in that case.
Do you know of a vumber like service for CANADA?

Looking to mask my phone number, make it appear to be many others.

Have you looked at Stewart's CallerID Spoofer? Maybe not all the bells and whistles, but it sure does the trick for me.

gosh sorta makes you think.. maybe we should be zipping up the files we have on the magic jack now.. and storing these tinny zip s someplace in case they make a change we can't get into..

Just to note there are two spots on this thing you should be making a image or zip of...

You would have to change the device SN to one that is not registered with MagicJack
