MJ use on dial-up?

Post by icefire »

I just ordered 2 MJ's. I havent used one before, and the site FAQ section says that "calls from MJ to MJ MAY work on dial-ups"...I only have a dial-up, will this even work? or did I just waste my money? I use Net Zero...which I think only runs at 50K..

It will work if you consistently get a 28 kbps or better uplink. Go to http://www.testyourvoip.com/ , click Conserve Bandwidth and select San Jose. If you get a good score, you'll probably be happy with MJ.

However, if you don't mind talking on a computer headset, services such as Skype or Yahoo! Voice should also work, and those will allow you to call regular phones as well.

MJ plans to support compression on calls to regular phones in the future, but I don't know when that may happen.
