I was under the impression that my MagicJack would work 24/7 on my computer, regardless of who logs onto it.... theres 5 different accounts on my computer for each of my family members.
Now, the magicjack is MY number... as in, I'm the only one that uses that phone in this house. This means, I need that jack to be working regardless of whatever account is logged into the computer, or even if no one is logged in. The computer stays on 24/7, but sometimes no one is logged in, and thus no dial-tone.
What I need is for my magicjack to work 24/7 without me needing to be logged into the computer, just have the computer running.
I tried to run it as a service, but I didn't get very far because the tutorial I read here just wasn't very well written.
The one time I actually got it running as a service, I had a dial-tone but I couldn't dial out or recieve calls in.
Anyone have any helpful hints or tips? Something I overlooked?
I'll be VERY grateful and happy if someone could take the time to help me out!
Awesome device.... but...

Not sure, but I would check out the "Run MJ as a service" threads. I understand that running it as a service will resolve the multiple accounts issue. Haven't done it myself, though.
EDIT: Didn't read the complete original message; just saw LikeMagic's response. Sorry for being redundant.

Re: Awesome device.... but...
Someone has to login for services to run then you can log off but dont turn off your pc... Someone on here said they got it to work without a user logging in from bootup and i said please post , but he never replied.HitTheBong420 wrote:I was under the impression that my MagicJack would work 24/7 on my computer, regardless of who logs onto it.... theres 5 different accounts on my computer for each of my family members.

I knew Frank Zappa from the old forum, and he once told me that he writes technical howto based on his target audience. He said he wanted to discourage less-technical people from attempting something that is above their head, so to speak, while providing technical know-how to those that might use it most effectively. With Frank's postmortem blessing, I will re-post the original Frank Zappa Procedure, as redundant as it may be at this point:
Download from Microsoft rktools.exe. Extract this file; you will need the following two programs: srvany.exe; and instsrv.exe. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS on how these programs are used. Create a user named "magicjack", temporarily assign admin privilege. Login as “magicjack”, and install the magicjack under this profile. Install the service using the instructions you READ, and then add parameter magicjackloader.exe as the target of srvany.exe.
The following is a registry script:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\magicJack]
"Type"=dword:00000010
"Start"=dword:00000002
"ErrorControl"=dword:00000001
"ImagePath"=hex(2):63,00,3a,00,5c,00,77,00,69,00,6e,00,64,00,6f,00,77,00,73,00,\
5c,00,73,00,72,00,76,00,61,00,6e,00,79,00,2e,00,65,00,78,00,65,00,00,00
"DisplayName"="magicJack"
"ObjectName"=".\\magicjack"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\magicJack\Enum]
"0"="Root\\LEGACY_LINE1\\0000"
"Count"=dword:00000001
"NextInstance"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\magicJack\Parameters]
"Application"="c:\\Documents and Settings\\magicjack\\Application Data\\mjusbsp\\magicjackloader.exe"
Reduce the “magicjack” user privilege to "user".
If you can read, follow instructions, and have at least two brain cells to rub together, then you will end up with an MJ that runs anytime the computer is on without regard to whoever is or is not logged in.
And there it is. BTW, attempt this BEFORE hitting the Bong and be sure to save some for me.
