New Spoofer Version

I'm in the Los Angeles area, and generally my mJ uses the LA proxy. But, I had the same thing happen with the upgrade: no audio, or spoof doesn't work.

Perhaps, Darkman, you haven't set your hosts file to not let an update happen to you. If you download the earlier version, install it on your machine, and type in your register info, but have your hosts file edited to add "0.0.0.0 upgrade.talk4free.com", then it can't upgrade you to the latest version...

Long and short is, it still doesn't work, at least with the LA proxy. But, today I've been able to use the Nashville proxy, and it seems to spoof just fine... By "it", I mean, the new spoofer version, NOT 1.1, which strangely enough I couldn't get to work today, even with an edited hosts file.

I'm always nervous to restart my computer, because the mJ and spoofing all seems to work fine until I have to restart things. It appears that when I restarted my computer today, it attempted to upgrade me, but was not able too. Yay!

I have the new spoofer version, it spoofs the number but no audio on either side. I am using LA server.

I have tried the other servers, the same problem, no audio. If anyone finds the solution please let me know. Thanks.

It has been discussed many, many times that the caller ID may not work with the upgrades to magicJack. You'll have to downgrade back to the last version if that option is important to you. Please read the forums.

I've downloaded the old version after having modified my hosts file as noted above. After the old version installs and I re-register it, the unit goes out and grabs the new version again and installs it -- despite the fact that I've added the 0.0.0.0 upgrade.talk4free.com line in my hosts file. The problem I experience with the new upgrade, like others, is no voice path on either end.

Suggestions? Thanks...

If Wireshark shows PC's IP, port 5060, sending to proxy IP, port 5070, then the spoofer is not in the path. In that case, you need to fix the hosts file, so that whatever name MJ is looking up maps to 127.0.0.1 .

If both source and dest ports are 5070, the packet is from or to the spoofer. If the proxy IP is not what you want, you need to change the spoofer setting.

hi guys i m in vancouver bc canada and i tried all tips and tricks that u guys told on the forums but nothing working for me i first tried spoofer V1.1 no luck then tried new version of spoofer where u can slect the proxy and all that from dropdown menu but nothing is working for me i chose washingdon proxy coz my phone # is from washingdon area code 360 any solution for me

Spoofing functionality disabled on the server side, well beyond our control.
Thanks to all the schmucks who publicized and abused it, tipping of MJ to eliminate loophole that permitted it.

i've heard this same BS about dishnetwork and they still can't keep ppl from hacking their service. YES dishnetwork knows about ppl stealing their signal but they can't stop it. who cares if MJ knows

I have been a part of the MJ scene from day 1. Kindly give my observations the credibility they warrant. It is not blatant theft of service, that has never happened, but the disclosure of chinks in the facade of MJ functionality or other weaknesses are, sooner if not later, dealt with and eliminated. The prime source of exposing these holes has been indiscretion on the part of members of this venue.
Remember, the MJ service is provided bi-directionally over the public internet with end-to-end accountability. Dish simply shoots microwaves into the air and has no inkling of where they end up.

I am in miami and I selected tampa as the proxy. I called my cell and my friend and its still displaying my regular number... also I get an error message when I run the app..
its trying to access my host file? I got the print screen...

I wish to thank all of you for the data contained herein... especially for the tip on Wireshark... finally, I can keep track of all the mass of packets that are exchanged over the network. I had NO IDEA just how much crap flows between my system and the internet... no wonder my otherwise fast machine runs so slow at times. Now I can track it all. I noticed that there is a lot of 'behind-the-scenes' advertising going on without my knowledge (prior to Wireshark, that is). Keep up the most excellent work.

Also, though I'm sure someone, if not all of you, are aware that Obama is soon to sign into law a new bill that will make spoofing illegal, even for previously legal or quasi-legal purposes (unless, of course, you are law enforcement or other gov't agency).
