2 Magicjacks, one computer

The search function here is horrible, so will just post what I was searching for. Is it possible to run two jacks on one PC? I'm having trouble making that happen.

Quick/short answer is NO for most people. Long answer is YES if you have the skill to run VM (virtual Machine) on top of Windows. If you say "huh?" to VM, then it's not for you.

I'm a senior IT Administrator for Networks, Windows, and Linux at a datacenter. I'm sure I can handle it :D
Although most likely I will simply put in a seperate machine and run Virtual Iron on it instead, much more advanced than Microsoft VM. I had just hoped there was a way to run two on a single instance of windows.

Anyway, the problem must be in the software. I noted when I plugged my phone into the second one on the same computer, the phone number switched over to the second unit. This tells me it would be possible to run two if someone were keen enough to write a jail script to allow two runs of the same software, but lock each process to the particular usb port. This way the two instances of the program would only see the usb port they are supposed to. In this case, thats a bit beyond my own capabilities I think, but looks like there is at least one genious on this board who could certainly do it if he set his mind to it. I had fun with his spoofing program already today.

Anyway, these lines are just for the kids. Nothing mission critical. I supposed I could go ahead and force one to work on the wife's Vista (ugh) machine until I have time to put in a seperate pc running virtual software. This is just my first day with them, so havent really dived into it's software as yet.

If you can handle it, go for it

You're right, the problem is in the MJ softphone software. Based on what I observed, MJ softphone is a single-instance application so it could only handle only 1 MJ device at a time. If MJ Softphone was designed to be a multi-instance application then each instance could handle one MJ device with ease.
