Ping!

Post by Darkman90808 »

I just did a ping to the Los Angeles and Nashville proxy addresses.

Los Angeles shows time = 9ms and TTL = 56.

Nashville shows time = 70ms and TTL = 53.

Do I understand this to mean that I should have better quality, i.e. less latency from Los Angeles? Are there other things I should consider? Also, what is TTL and do I care? I currently have the Nashville proxy in the Caller ID Spoofer and it's been working great all day.

Thanks!

What are the proxy addresses? Where did you find them?

Tim Me... this was a more pertinent issue when the CallerID Spoofer was working. Using the CallerID spoofer, you could route your MagicJack through different proxies and "spoof" the number the receiver would see on the CID. If you do a search on the MJ Hacks & Tricks forum, you should find a post by me that laid out the bare bones of how to use it. Unfortunately, with the most recent upgrade, it doesn't work anymore. Some of the guru's here, like Stewart, who posted the original version are working on it.

If you wade through the threads on the CallerID "sticky", you will find the list of proxies MJ/YMax uses to route their calls. If you can't find it with minmal effort, I'll be happy to sent to a copy in ascii text.
