IVM Answering Attendant (3rd Party Software)

Post by chrisabston »

Does MagicJack not allow software applications like this to access
the MJ servers to accept phone calls directly and avoid modem
calls? I have the proxy and domain (proxy1.Tampa.talk4free.com:5070)
but whenever the IVM tries to connect it comes back bit a 400 bad
request error. I don't know if there is a seperate outgoing server.
Any help would be appreciated.

I know nothing about IVM, but the most common cause of a 400 response to REGISTER is an incorrect From: header. Make sure that it shows e.g. <sip:[email protected]> . If your phone number (without the leading E and trailing 01) appears anywhere in your IVM config, that's probably wrong. If no luck, capture the REGISTER and response with Wireshark and post it here (mask any personal info).

Thanks for the help. It is now accepting the username once I put the E and the 01 but now I am getting a 401 unnauthorized access. It is asking for a password for the proxy site. Should the password be different than my current password? I will work on getting a wireshark capture later today.

Thanks,
Chris

The SIP password is a 20-character string of upper case letters and/or digits. Wireshark won't help you get it, search this forum for details.

YES!!!! I found a way to get the creds from an old post. It feels so good!
The only problem is I need the outbound calling feature and once I have
the auto attendant registered I can no longer outbound call. I must get a
new MJ which I WILL!!!!!!

The reason I will is because I accidentally found that the IVM attendant
flash hooks and transfers to an outside line which may help me with
cell minutes. Any way thanks STEWART for the advice to dig!
