I LOVE MY MAGIC JACK!!! IT works great. I am a small, small, small business and the price
was absolutely right! I use IVM Answering Attendant Software that gives a nice phone tree
and I can even use my Credit Card Terminal.
I have had some issues where the CC Terminal returns a protocol error. All I have to do
when this happens (only twice in 1 month) is to click on menu then advanced and restart.
One of the times I had to restart about 5 times but I can live with that for a great product!

I don't mean to imply anything, but have had a question for some time. Is MJ that secure? The reason I ask is I've been wondering if there is any sort of encryption of the phone call or if it's a straight shot over the Internet, but never could find any information on the subject.

That makes more sense. I've wondered because I'll admit I'm relatively new to voip as well with MJ being my second run at a voip setup. My first was from my cable company who swears their servers encrypt voice traffic to protect customers' privacy. Overall, I'm satisfied because I don't really do anything that sensitive, but may in the future so figured I'd ask someone who already knew.

That's true. I read where scanners aren't supposed to scan telephone frequencies, but then I know of several radios that aren't supposed to put out more than five watts too. I'm a paranoid security freak and have been curious about voip's security for a long time. It's not that a landline is any better now that we live in an age of computers that monitor every word we speak, but a fascination I have with new (to me) technology.

How did you get the MJ to work with IVM?
I can't figure out how to get it to work. I sniffed out the l:p:IP , i made sure the proxy fit, IVM not connecting and I don't know how to troubleshoot.
Any clues?
Thx.
