How to check MJ version number?

Post by mistertee »

Is it possible to check version info in the MJ interface? I haven't been able to find an "about" button anywhere.

Thanks :-)

Navigate to the magicJack.exe file (typically in C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\mjusbsp), right-click, choose Properties, click the Version tab. It's possible, though IMO unlikely, that a new release would change a skin, DLL, etc., without updating the .exe file.

Thanks! Mine shows "1,73,415,3". I'm not sure how that relates to the "Upgrade To 4.0 Beta" offer that appears in the MJ UI from time to time.

I think the beta 4 you are referring to is the MagicFix and not the MJ softphone software.

Yeah, you might be right about that. I assumed 'MagicFix' was more or less a compatibility/configuration utility but maybe there's more to it. The "Lucky You" upgrading splash screen is rather amusing ;-)

How to check MJ version number?

OK, I checked mine. I've got the same number (1.73.415.3). And why do I need that info? What does it tell me? Did someone switch the channels to another station? (Sorry, I must have stepped out during commerical break)

The developer upgrades the MJ software from time to time. These upgrades often include specific improvements and bug fixes. Accordingly, most users would like to verify that they have the latest and greatest version. Unfortunately, MJ does not offer a convenient means of checking this.

Even using Belarc Advisor, nothing about a MJ version number is found. Thought for sure Belarc would have it.
