Hi,
A question about thin clients, will they reboot automatically after a power failure? Or do I have to manually power up the thin client to get MJ working again?
thanks.

Thanks for the tip about the web cam add-on. That was the key to getting the TC to load the webcam driver.PTravel wrote:HP has an add-on you can download for webcam support. Note, too, that reboot on power failure is a BIOS setting.taflocks wrote:will a web cam work with a 5720? along with the m/j? my 5720 works great with a netgear wireless setup
Here's the link to the Altiris add-ons and remove-packages. As others have posted, running the utilities is a 2 step process. 1) Run the downloaded utility. This loads the utility on the TC in Program files. 2) Navigate to c:/program files/Altiris/eXpress/Deployment Server/RIPs and run the utility from there. You can delete the folders RIPS, HP Thin Client Documents, and Scripts afterwards. Note that in step 2, when running a utility, it seem to finish, but up to 10 seconds later, more dialog windows come up.

For webcams, download and install the the add-on for webcams and scanners before loading the drivers for USB web cams. For newer webcams, I loaded the driver and plugged in the camera. For an older webcam I found I had to install the whole web cam application (package with all the bells and whistles), plugged in the camera then walked through the wizard to load the driver. The older webcam finally worked.

I also loaded the XP driver for a Netgear WG111v2 wifi USB adapter, plugged in the adapter, and it worked right away via XP's wifi manager. This was on a 2nd TC, so now I have a portable motion detecting webcam setup, it just needs AC power nearby and within range of the wifi.
Thanks for the tip. It was included in the XPe image Jeepsterguy pointed to in his Dummies Guide.testing123 wrote:@tony: If you don't see the PowerOn feature in your BIOS you may have to update it. Some of the older/lower end models required a BIOS update from the HP site in order to support Boot after Power Fail.
