Can't connect calling VONAGE phone

Post by nicled »

Tried calling my friend with a Vonage phone but it just rings and rings. But when Vonage calls my magic jack phone i can answer. Is this a problem with Vonage?

Possibly. If MJ and Vonage have an arrangement so that calls between them do not have to go via the PSTN, either side could be at fault. IMO, it's more likely that the carrier that MJ uses for your friend's area code / exchange is not doing their job properly.

You may be able to work around the problem by dialing the number in a special way. For example, if your friend's number is 212-867-5309, try dialing
*672*128675309
If your friend has the same area code as your MJ number, also try
8675309***

Let us know if either helps, and what area code and exchange you are calling.

just a clarification, try dialing
*672*128675309 - you mean putting the asteriks in between the area code. if we have the same area code, i have the asteriks after the number minus the area code?

thanks!
