spoof / block with ata

Post by tillithz »

Ok, so some great info thrilled with what I have learned here.

Anyways, after reading countless post/threads regarding spoofing, it all seems a bit experimental. Is there any direct steps possible for an ata user? I have tried the calleridspoof.exe and the 2 steps explained but its not functioning correctly. Really what I am looking to do is spoof to another number I own until mj allows porting (if). the ata device is a spa2102 and both lines are in use.

thanks for any tips in advance.

The calleridspoof.exe won't work with an ATA. The only way the .exe file will work is if you are running the MJ software. I don't have any knowledge on ATAs to know if spoofing is possible.

There are two likely issues when spoofing with an ATA. First, be sure that the spoofer is in the path. This requires that the ATA have Outbound Proxy set to the IP address of the PC running the spoofer, and the spoofer be set with the IP address of the ATA. If you can make calls when the spoofer is running but not otherwise, it's probably set up correctly, or you can use Wireshark to confirm.

Also, on some routes, MJ is using carriers that do not honor the identity header. Presently, it's possible to avoid those by sending the number with a * after the first digit, e.g. 212-867-5309 should be sent as 2*128675309 . The default dial plan on most ATAs don't let you dial this way. You can change the dial plan to either permit dialing the *, or to automatically insert the *.
