Computer Restart Problems

Post by K9LuvR »

I won't go into detail with the horrible process of installing the MJ or the incredibly poor technical support. After three hours of off and on chat, doing the same steps over and over and over (which never did work), I finally gave up and figured out myself how to get the thing to work. For informational purposes, I'm running XP SP2 and I have no "extra" audio devices or software. It's a pretty basic, straight-forward system with cable internet access.

Now that MJ is working, I still have a couple of problems and questions that I hope someone here can help me with.

My first problem is shutting down my computer. When I restart, it tells me I have to "remove any disks from the drives then hit any key to continue" (like when you used to forget a floppy disk in the drive). I have to physically remove the MJ for my computer to start up. Then when I plug it back in, it tries to install itself again. Does everyone have this issue? Is there a way to correct this so I don't have to pull the MJ every time I start up?

Second...it turned out that the USB extension cord that was supplied with the MJ was defective (that combined with a firewall setting caused many of my installation problems). If I purchase another USB extension, can I move the MJ to a different USB port now that it's already installed in one? Right now it's in a very inconvenient location since it's in a USB port that I use for other things. I want the MJ plugged into the back of my computer (unless I'm going to have to continue unplugging it each time I restart my system...sigh...).

Thanks in advance for any help. I dearly wish the MJ chat could help me but I've completely lost faith in them at this point.
Mich
P.S. In case anyone from MJ is reading this...you REALLY need to include an uninstall option!!!!!!!!!

Have you looked at your bios to see what your boot-up order is? Is it trying to boot from USB before your hard drive? :!:

I will check that when I get home tonight (I'm at work now). Thanks.

Any ideas on changing the USB port?

Computer Restart Problems - Solved

It was the boot order. Changing that fixed the problem. MJ works fine now and starts up when I reboot.
